Musician and actor Machine Gun Kelly says he refused a role in the film “Sinners” because he did not want to say a racial slur that was included in the script.
According to Kelly, the decision was personal.
He explained that being the father of a multiracial daughter made him think carefully about the role. In the end, he decided that using the offensive language, even as part of a character, went against his values.
“I have a mixed daughter, and I love her deeply,” Kelly said. “I just couldn’t do it.”
Although he appreciated the opportunity, he chose to walk away from the project rather than compromise what he believes in.
His comments have sparked mixed reactions online. Some people praised him for standing by his principles and putting his family first. Others argued that actors sometimes take on difficult roles as part of telling a story.
For Kelly, however, the decision was clear. He believes some choices are bigger than a career opportunity, and staying true to his values mattered most.
